A major shake-up of the board of struggling regional airline Flybe is under way.
It comes after long-time chairman and CEO Jim French moved to become non-executive chairman. The Exeter-based carrier is hoping to make annual savings of £50m by 2015.
The plan will be implemented by a new executive structure headed by recently appointed chief executive Saad Hammad and former easyJet director Paul Simmons, who will join the company on October 28.
Corporate strategy chief Mark Chown, outsourcing solutions head MikeRutter and Flybe UK managing director Andrew Strong have all left the board with immediate effect.
Despite the move, the trio will all continue to work with the firm and will also report to Mr Hammad. Chief financial officer Andrew Knuckey is stepping down.
