The Scottish Government’s commitment to Modern Apprenticeships will today see the two politicians responsible for the training of young people visit a Fife company who support the scheme.
Cabinet Secretary for Fair Work, Skills and Training Roseanna Cunningham and Minister for Youth and Women’s Employment Annabelle Ewing will make Havelock Europa’s Dalgety Bay premises the first visit in their new posts.
They will meet Modern Apprenticeship Ambassador of the Year Kelsey Whyte and a number of young people working at the firm, which makes furniture and interiors for the education, healthcare and commercial sectors.
Ms Cunningham said: “Modern Apprenticeships remain a key part of the Scottish Government’s work to support more young people into employment. We are committed to having 30,000 new opportunities every year from 2020.”
Ms Ewing added: “Havelock Europa is a clear success story, not just in supporting young people but in placing women in jobs traditionally associated with men.
“I am very much looking forward to hearing more about the company and benefits they have seen through employing apprentices.”
