Forfar town centre has received a welcome shot in the arm with the arrival of bakery firm Greggs.
The company has added Castle Street in the town to a portfolio of over 1450 shops nationwide, creating a number of jobs.
Area manager Lesley Christie said, “We’re very excited about our new shop at Castle Street.
“The team are passionate about freshly-baked food and we’re all really looking forward to welcoming many new customers.”
However the Greggs boost has been offset by continuing uncertainty over the future of its adjacent high street neighbour, variety store Alworths, after it plunged into crisis this month.
Administrators have been called in to the troubled chain, which opened up in the former Woolworths premises last June the firm’s second store in Scotland.
It remains open as the administrators seek a buyer.
