Holiday bookings at travel agent Barrhead soared by almost a third during the first three months of the year, according to figures released yesterday.
The firm with outlets in Dundee, Glenrothes and Dunfermline among its branch network said a 29% hike in sales during the three months to the end of March came following Scotland’s wettest winter on record.
The rise includes 40% growth in bookings for long-haul destinations.
Meanwhile, bookings for cruises also proved popular.
“January to March is always a busy time for us. However, this year we’ve enjoyed an exceptional response from travellers looking to jet off to foreign shores,” said chief executive Sharon Munro.
