Top figures from Scotland’s whisky industry will visit Mexico next week to talk tequila with some of the Central American country’s own spirits chiefs.
Bosses from the Scotch Whisky Association expect to sign a new agreement with regulatory bodies when they visit the sector’s ninth biggest international market.
Chief executive David Frost will outline his organisation’s work to protect and promote Scotch during a lecture in Guadalajara, and will also sign a cooperation agreement with Consejo Regulador del Tequila over greater collaboration on fair competition and the promotion of responsible drinking.
He will also meet government officials in the capital, Mexico City, in the hope of boosting exports.
