BDO report highlights impressive showing by Scottish hotel sector

Scotland’s hotel sector saw an “impressive” improvement in fortunes during February, according to a newly-released report by accountancy firm BDO.

The company’s monthly study found occupancy and revenue levels were higher north of the border than anywhere else in the UK outside London.

“The whole of the UK experienced double-digit revenue growth, but with Scotland starting from a higher base figure the increase is really quite impressive for a time of year which can be relatively quiet,” said BDO property partner Alastair Rae.

He said a bumper summer season is expected due to events like the Ryder Cup and Commonwealth Games.
