Halfords has bought cycling legend Chris Boardman’s specialist bike business.
The retailer said it was delighted to have acquired Boardman Bikes, a brand which it has had close ties with since 2007.
The value of the deal was not disclosed but it is thought to have involved in excess of £10 million.
The business will remain a standalone entity in the Halfords Group and will continue to be run by MD Andy Smallwood, with Chris Boardman continuing in his role as chairman and design director.
Chris Boardman said: “This step will take the brand to the next level and their backing will allow us to further develop our research and development and extend our award-winning cycling ranges.”
