A senior executive with Fife-based retinal imaging company Optos is to join Somerset-based optical components specialist Gooch & Housego.
Alex Warnock will take on the same chief operating officer role he holds at Dunfermline-based Optos when he moves to AIM-listed G&H on November 10.
His new role still has a strong link to Fife following G&H’s move in October last year to snap up Glenrothes-based Spanoptic in a £6.6 million deal.
Mr Warnock’s new employer said his experience of leading the integration of manufacturing, supply-chain, research and development and product management activities to bring complex photonics-based products to market was particularly relevant as G&H moved to being a more systems-based business.
In May Mr Warnock was involved in establishing a new CENSIS-funded research collaboration between Optos and Glasgow University to develop new imaging technologies for the eye care market.
The move comes weeks after G&H announced a major reshuffle of its senior team. Chief executive Gareth Jones takes over as chairman from Julian Blogh on January 1, when non-executive director Mark Webster becomes CEO.
