Major contact centre group Webhelp yesterday acquired French payment services firm FDI for a “significant eight-figure sum”.
The takeover, the exact financial details of which have not been disclosed, is the latest step in Webhelp’s expansion and follows the purchase of Dutch firm SNT earlier this year and the takeover of Scottish call centre operation HEROtsc in early 2013.
The company, which has its UK headquarters at Falkirk and employs more than 3,500 staff across Scotland, said FDI would allow it to create an internal payment services unit to build on its current solution.
The firm said the move was in line with its strategy to diversify the services it offers and attract more work from the business process outsourcing market.
CEO Matthieu Bouin said the acquisition would help increase Webhelp’s international clout.
Olivier Duha, founder and co-president of the Webhelp Group, said: “We are delighted to be joining forces with FDI, which has achieved strong and steady growth over the past five years and now has a business volume of 900 million euros.”
