Logan drawn by Insights into transformation of Dundee

Dundee-based Insights is to welcome Fiona Logan as VP for Europe.
Dundee-based Insights is to welcome Fiona Logan as VP for Europe.

The chief executive of one of Scotland’s major national parks is set to join Dundee-based global development company Insights in a senior management role.

High-flying Fiona Logan yesterday announced she is stepping down from her post at Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park (LLTTNP) after six years to take up a new role as vice-president for Europe at the Dundee Technology Park-based firm.

Staff at LLTTNP were informed of the move yesterday, but Ms Logan will not take up her new role until mid-February once she has worked her notice period.

“I wasn’t specifically looking for a new role as I love my job and we have achieved a huge amount here in the six years I have been here,” she said.

“But when they approached me I just felt it was the right time. Part of that is because I have got an extremely strong and capable management here at the park, but also because Insights just charmed me.

“They have been on a very inspirational journey and it is a hugely exciting time in their development.”

Ms Logan said the pull of family life her parents stay in Newport had also influenced her decision, as had the ongoing transformation of Dundee.

“I presented at the Royal Town Planning Institute last week, and Mike Galloway (Dundee City Council’s development director) was a fellow presenter.

“He outlined the waterfront development and 25-year plan and, having been overseas with my career and having come back, the transformation in Dundee is just so exciting,” she said.

“To be part of that is a big attraction for professionals like me.”

Insights CEO Andy Lothian said he was delighted such a high-profile figure had agreed to join the business, and her leadership skills would be put to good use in driving growth in the firm’s European operations.

“Fiona will be joining my executive team as vice-president for Europe, and that will include leadership for the UK and European part of the business and what we call the growth regions.

“She has fabulous energy and is a very experienced leader, and brings a track record not just locally but in international business,” he added.

Mr Lothian said the appointment came at a key point in the development of Insights, which has doubled its Dundee-based workforce to around 120 in the past 18 months alone.

Overall the company expects to achieve revenues in excess of £30 million in the current financial year and has a global staff of 350 people, with a further 5,000 independent licensed practitioners in its wider sphere.

He said they have done a lot of building of products, infrastructure and proposition, and Fiona’s role will be in expanding growth within UK and Europe while also being a strong voice in the overall strategy for the business.

“We are genuinely trying to make a difference in the world of work by creating environments where people can be more productive and happier and organisations can be more successful.

“Fiona has the mindset in what she does to make that difference.”

National Park Authority convener Linda McKay said Ms Logan had provided “superb leadership” during often challenging times at LLTTNP.

She said: “I’d like to thank her for the energy, passion and vision she has brought to the role and wish her well in the next stage of her career.”
