Men’s outfitter Moss Bros yesterday said income “deferred” by Euro 2012 and the Olympics had been recaptured during the last four months of trading as sports-delayed nuptials finally went ahead.
Announcing its interim figures in September, the tailor said its rental business had been hit by the summer of sport.
But now the firm says hire sales are back on track, having performed “particularly well” over the 19 weeks to December 8.
Total like-for-like sales were up 3.7% on the same period last year, while total sales for the year to date are 4.6% ahead of 2011.
Moss said gross margins had improved due to lower cost pressures on raw materials and more direct sourcing.
