A tiny Perthshire distillery yesterday launched a thistle and heather-infused gin as it hopes to ensure Scotland gets into high spirits this summer.
Strathearn Distillery officially premiered its new Homecoming Gin ahead of public tastings in Edinburgh and Glasgow this week.
The drink was created at the invitation of the Homecoming Scotland campaign. It forms a new addition to the company’s existing portfolio of three artisan brews.
All of them are made in small batches in a traditional farm steading near Methven.
Strathearn director David Lang said he had dreamed up the recipe after many late nights pondering quintessentially Scottish ingredients.
Homecoming Scotland’s Caroline Packman said the organisation was delighted Strathearn had captured the spirit of the summer’s sporting and cultural celebrations with a unique flavour.
“It is great to see so many businesses getting involved in Homecoming, and we hope the events and activities across the country are really capturing the imagination of people both within Scotland and across the world,” Ms Packman added.
