Phones4U IS cutting hundreds of jobs across the UK, The Courier can reveal.
The mobile communications group yesterday confirmed some staff had been given notice of possible redundancy after a “strategic review of key business operations”.
The Courier understands around 325 employees are affected and deputy and assistant management posts and senior administrative roles are among the jobs being targeted.
The firm yesterday said that it ultimately expected less than 200 staff would leave the business as employees were placed in new roles.
“We can confirm that we have entered into a period of consultation with some employees potentially affected by a strategic review of key business operations,” chief operations officer Nick Fisher said.
“We can make no further comment until the completion of the consultation process.
“Our strategic review delivered several recommendations including a number of initiatives aimed at better deployment and incentivisation of our employees.
“Should the proposals go ahead, there will be a large number of redeployment opportunities available and we therefore anticipate a small net reduction in employee numbers, estimated at below 200 roles in total.
“Our workforce at present totals more than 5,600, and we have recruited over 800 employees this year.”
