Merger delayed between Irn-Bru maker AG Barr and Britvic
ByThe Courier Reporter
THE proposed merger between Irn-Bru producer AG Barr and Britvic has been delayed.
The companies hoped to complete their £1.4 billion tie-up by January 30.
However, the OFT has informed the two firms that its review into the proposed deal, which will create one of Europe’s largest soft drinks manufacturers, will not be completed in time for the merger to go through as anticipated.
The watchdog has not given a date for its review to be concluded but it is expected the process will be completed next month.
In a joint statement, the companies said the timetable for the implementation of the merger is being extended.
Barr shares closed down 5.30 at 490, with Britvic up 1.10 at 413.10.
