Euan Sutherland has been appointed to the top job at the Co-operative Group.
The 43-year-old will become chief executive of the large-scale farming, grocery, banking and funeralcare body in the spring, after stepping down from his current post as chief operating officer at B&Q-owner Kingfisher.
Mr Sutherland, who grew up in North Berwick and the Bearsden area of Glasgow, already sits on the Co-op’s food board and is a non-executive director of fashion retailer SuperGroup.
He has enjoyed a four-year career with Kingfisher, as chairman of B&Q and chief executive of the firm’s UK division before being appointed COO.
Previously he was chief executive at Superdrug owner AS Watson UK. He has 20 years’ experience with retail and consumer goods companies such as Boots, Dixons, Coca-Cola, and Mars.
