Docks operator Forth Ports has launched its first Modern Apprenticeship scheme in Scotland.
Working in partnership with the Scottish Qualifications Board, Port Skills & Safety and the unions, the group which operates the Port of Dundee and a number of Fife docks has begun providing training and mentoring for young apprentices.
Nineteen existing employees have been registered to undertake the vocational qualification in port operations.
Chief executive Charles Hammond said: “We employ almost 500 people in our operations throughout Scotland and it is our responsibility to ensure that we manage the succession planning for the future.”
