Thorntons has been appointed to a panel of legal firms that provides advice to the Scottish Government and a wide range of public-sector groups.
The Dundee-based firm, which has expanded significantly in recent years, has become a member of the legal services framework and will provide advice on issues such as debt recovery, contracts and property, as well as commercial and corporate matters.
The firm has also been appointed to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ service within the framework, which extends to around 120 public bodies.
Joint managing partner Craig Nicol said: “Being appointed to the Scottish Government’s legal services framework is a fantastic opportunity for Thorntons.”
He added: “We are relishing the chance to make our expertise, experience and professionalism available to a wide range of public bodies over the next four years.”
The appointment comes just weeks after Thorntons completed a merger with Watts Law of Montrose.
The firm now has 42 partners and employs more than 400 staff across the north east.
