A Fife-based consultancy which provides software solutions for industrial clients has received a boost from the East of Scotland Investment Fund (ESIF).
GX Consultancy, which is based at John Smith Business Park in Kirkcaldy, has received a £20,000 loan to invest in new equipment and further research and development.
The firm has worked with high-profile clients including drinks group Edrington who required a warehousing operation to be modernised.
Steve Smith, Edrington’s principal IT business partner, said: “Edrington engaged GX to re-platform our barcode gun software, and to introduce some enhancements at the same time.
“They delivered a .Net solution as per our requirements and delivered this on time and on budget.”
GX was set up in 2013 by Gregor Kent and Xander Erkamp with a view to transforming workflows and stock management systems
Mr Kent said the cash from ESIF, which was administered by Business Gateway Fife on behalf of Fife Council Economic Development, would help the firm achieve its growth ambitions. “The ESIF loan has certainly given us the cushion we needed to make further investment in the business, removing the pressure to delay purchases and allowing us to push forward with our future expansion plans,” Mr Kent said.
The firm has primarily worked in the food and drink space but is now expanding its business horizons and looking to recruit new staff.
“We are keen to exploit opportunities in new and emerging sectors like renewables and artificial intelligence and, to that end, we hope to expand our team in the near future.”
