Tesco Bank, which has its HQ in Edinburgh, is creating a further 300 jobs in Scotland.
The banking arm of the supermarket giant is adding the posts to its operations in Edinburgh and Glasgow, a move that will increase its workforce north of the border to around 3,600.
The majority of the roles will form part of a new team responsible for serving customers following the launch of Tesco Bank’s new current account product next year.
Benny Higgins, chief executive of Tesco Bank, said: “Since 2008 we have invested to build a bank for Tesco customers.
“We now have more than 6.8 million accounts and offer straightforward, transparent products which reward loyalty and provide great value.
“We are making excellent progress towards the launch of our current account next year, and the recruitment of these new roles is an important milestone in that process.”
Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael welcomed the boost. He said: “It is a strong endorsement of the skills and expertise that the workforce in Glasgow and Edinburgh possess, and their qualities as places to do business.”
