The John Clark Motor Group won two of the most prestigious awards at the industry’s Automotive Management Awards.
The Aberdeen-based group, which has outlets in Dundee, Perth, Cupar and Dunfermline, was named UK retailer of the year and best retail group with more than 10 sites.
The group, with a workforce of more than 1,000, demonstrated outstanding practice and performance, reporting a fifth consecutive record-breaking year, with turnover increasing 28% to £602 million.
Chairman and managing director John Clark said after collecting the prizes at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham: “I’m delighted we’ve been recognised in such a way by these highly respected industry awards.
“To be awarded retailer of the year against commended competition is testament to our customer service and staff dedication.”
The company continues to expand its presence across Scotland and has invested £9m in the development of a new high-tech Audi flagship in Aberdeen due to open this year.
It has also put in gear a £700,000 extension at its Audi dealership in Dundee.
The 40% increase in size of the King’s Cross Road showroom, giving an extra 2,200 square feet, will also offer more office and customer space and allow the creation of more jobs.
A total of 24 new posts will be added to the workforce between the Dundee and Aberdeen developments.
In Dundee the group employs 55 people at its Audi site and 63 at the John Clark Tayside site in the Dryburgh Industrial Estate where it is the dealer for BMW and Mini.
A further 33 are employed at the group’s Skoda dealership in the city’s Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate.
A total of 45 are employed at John Clark Land Rover in Perth and 28 in the same dealership in Cupar, 19 at the Jaguar dealership in Perth, 49 at John Clark Volkswagen Fife (Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy), and 13 at the contact centre in Dunfermline.
The family-owned and run business now employs more than 1,000 people across all its sites, including Edinburgh.
The new high-tech Audi dealership in Aberdeen will be the first of its kind in Scotland and one of only a handful in the UK.
The 59,860 sq ft site will be almost double the size of the present Aberdeen Audi footprint, becoming the group’s largest dealership stand-alone franchised site.
Fitted with the latest interactive retail technology, the new Aberdeen showroom will allow visitors to browse the full Audi range electronically and access every model and variant configuration at the touch of a button.
