The success of Skyfall, starring Daniel Craig, helped Cineworld record a rise in pre-tax profits
An “outstanding” performance by James Bond blockbuster Skyfall increased sales at cinema chain Cineworld, allowing it to report a 15% rise in pre-tax profits to £38.5 million.
A hike in average ticket price from £5.01 to £5.26 drove an increase of almost 4% in box office sales, taking revenue up £356.2m.
Over the year, the group opened a seven-screen cinema in Aldershot and expanded its IMAX offerings to eight further cinemas.
The firm also completed the acquisition of the Picturehouse chain of cinemas for £47.3m in December last year.
