A Fife chilled and specialty food group has agreed a significant new partnership with Scotmid to enhance the convenience store operator’s stocks of Scottish products.
The tie-up between Kirkcaldy-based Fife Creamery a family-run business which can trace its roots back more than half a century and the shop chain will see new home-grown products offered in Scotmid’s 194-store estate.
The agreement will boost a number of local food producers including the DipNation of Fife, Mackie’s at Taypack in the Carse of Gowrie and the Pitlochry-based Rannoch Smokery.
Steve Appolinari, sales and marketing director at the £22-million turnover Fife business, said: “This is one of the most forward-thinking collaborations the convenience sector in Scotland has ever seen.
“It’s really bringing innovative Scottish food and drink manufacturers to life and helping them gain exposure for their brands that they might not otherwise achieve due to limited resources and expertise.
“Scotmid has a diversity and quality of stores that allows us to bring in a wide and varied array of fresh food suppliers.”
Scotmid chief operating officer Colin McLean said: “We’re hugely excited about this new relationship, which comes at a time when consumer interest in the provenance of the food is at an all-time high.”
