A new £1.5 million Fife business park development is set to welcomes its first tenants next month.
Dundee-based property firm Barnetts Properties – the parent company of the well known Riverside-based car dealership which bears the same name – have spent more than three years working on plans to upgrade the crumbling units at Bassaguard Industrial Estate in St Andrews.
Site clearance took place in late autumn and six of the nine industrial units planned for the site – the first new commercial accommodation to become available in the town for a generation – are now close to completion.
The first phase of the development has been completely pre-let and occupants – which will include oil services, laundry and accountancy firms – are expected to start moving in to the new accomodation from the beginning of February.
Company chairman Paul Barnett said he was delighted by the interest in the site and said a number of enquiries had already been received for units in the second phase of the development.
“It’s great to see so many companies wanting to have a presence in St Andrews and we’re very happy to be able to support them in that through this project,” he said.
“We’re now looking forward to welcoming our first tenants and getting to work on the second phase.
“Given our company’s historic connection with the town, it’s great to be enabling more jobs to come to St Andrews.”
The redevelopment of Bassaguard came about after Barnetts agreed a long-term lease for the site with Fife Council.
