DNV GL pick up multi million pound Mariner compliance contract
ByGraham Huband
A multi million pound offshore regulatory compliance contract for Statoil’s giant Mariner field development in the North Sea has been awarded to DNV GL UK.
The firms have collaborated for the past two years on front end engineering and design work for Mariner which involved developing performance standards and other compliance guidelines for production drilling quarter operations and for various subsea works.
Mariner is located on the East Shetland Platform of the UK North Sea and is the largest new offshore development in the UK in more than a decade.
Production is expected to start in 2017 with an initial average recovery of 55,000 barrels of oil per day.
DNV GL regional UK manager Hari Vamadevan said the project was complicated as it involved many contractors working across multiple countries but he said he expected it to open up further opportunities for DNV in future.
