The Easter break is set to cost small home-based businesses in Scotland more than £9 million in lost revenues.
New research by insurer Direct Line for Business has estimated 60% of the UK’s 844,0000 home business owners with dependent children are planning to take time out over Easter.
Across the UK as a whole, the researchers said more than £220m of turnover would be lost in the period, £9.1m of which will be in firms based north of the border.
Direct Line’s Jane Guaschi said integrating business and family life was a tricky balancing act.
She said: “Running a business from home is not for the faint hearted. Running such an enterprise whilst taking care of children is even tougher.
“This additional responsibility can be difficult to manage.”
