Galloway Group growth creates dozens of new jobs in Dundee

Dundee engineering firm the Galloway Group has created dozens more manufacturing jobs.

The specialist engineering solutions company has taken on 37 new employees across its business in recent months.

The majority are in the manufacturing plant at Wester Gourdie.

The jobs boost comes on the back of an improving order book.

Since December 2014, the company has achieved £11.5 million worth of sales, despite tough trading conditions in the manufacturing and, particularly in oil and gas sectors.

Managing director Jim Mathieson said: “The fact that we’ve been hiring on this scale underlines our continuing business growth and ambitious plans for the future.

“Between our Dundee and Dewsbury facilities, we’re proud to employ over 280 people and to give them skilled, well-paid jobs, which benefit both our customers’ businesses and the local economy.”

He added: “The Galloway family will continue to grow in two areas.

“We are in the final stages of taking on new graduates to help continue to grow the business through our new two-year graduate development programme.”

Secondly the group is keen to expand its skilled fabrication team even further, and wanted to hear from people with fabrication expertise who are looking for a new opportunity.

Galloway works with companies across the construction, marine, oil and gas, nuclear, process industry and pharmaceuticals sectors, within both the UK and export markets.

Galloway-made products can be found in the harshest offshore conditions, and Scottish customers include the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.

It recently announced a £3.5m extension to a Middle East contract which will see its products used at the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

The renewal of a licensing agreement with Leminar Air Conditioning of the United Arab Emirates, will see Galloway’s Fenland Fireduct and Acoustics sold in the Middle East.

They will be used in construction projects for the Qatar World Cup involving building activity worth £138 billion.
