Perthshire builder and residential developer Hadden Construction has completed its most important building yet a £650,000 contract to extend its own headquarters.

BBC weather presenter Judith Ralston will officially open the firm’s newly completed base at Aberuthven today, and company chairman Scott Hadden said he hoped the event would signal a new era of prosperity for the 22-year-old firm as the wider construction trade improves.

The company was impacted during the economic downturn but turnover is now on track to return to pre-recession levels of more than £20 million, and it is recruiting for various roles.

“The new development gives our business more office space, with the additional capacity providing a platform for growth as the economic recovery gathers pace,” Mr Hadden said.

“It also allows us to reinvigorate our Hadden Homes brand as we look to recommence our own private residential developments.”

The build-out of the new HQ to be formally named Millennium House, and accommodate the firm’s 124-strong workforce received £300,000 of funding support from Bank of Scotland.

SME banking relationship manager Andy McKie said: “Hadden Construction has successfully navigated itself through a tough economic climate for the sector and is well positioned for growth…

“The investment in its headquarter operations is a great milestone for the business and we are proud to be a part of that, and of our strong working relationship with its management team.

“We look forward to supporting the business through its next stage of development as it looks to build its workforce and turnover during 2015.”

Hadden has worked on a number of major projects, including the award-winning Birks Cinema redevelopment.

Current projects include a £4.3m primary school redevelopment at Kirkliston, and the refurbishment of St Mary’s Monastery in Perth.

The firm has also recently been appointed to convert Eastern Primary School in Broughty Ferry to residential flats, a project which had originally been tendered out to collapsed Dundee contractor Muirfield.
