Robertson Group, the company behind many new school projects in Tayside, is taking over the headquarters of the collapsed Muirfield Contracts in Dundee.
The offices have been empty since Muirfield suddenly went out of business in March with the loss of more than 360 jobs.
Derek Shewan, chief operating officer for Robertson Group, said: “We will be moving our Robertson Construction Tayside team to George Buckman Drive, cementing our position as Tayside’s largest construction business. “We are looking forward to growing our team and building upon our experience in Tayside.
“We are extremely proud of our current developments in the area, including the delivery of the new Harris Academy, Baldragon Academy and Brechin Community Campus.”
The offices were not involved in the protracted winding up of former building contractors Muirfield, who had debts of almost £7 million.
The site was owned independently by a company under the control of former Muirfield chairman Maurice McKay, who sold the building firm to a company controlled by Thomas John Stoddart.
The Robertson Group has a network of subsidiaries working in infrastructure, support services and construction, and directly employs more than 1,500 people.
It has a well-established presence across Scotland and the north of England.
The high level of activity in Tayside prompted Robertson to look for a bigger regional operating base.
It presently operates from the Marketgait Business Centre in Dundee.
Robertson has been heavily involved in new school building projects in Tayside.
They included Grove Academy and Downfield Primary in a £100 million schools rebuilding project in the city.
In Angus it constructed the new Woodlands Primary in Carnoustie as part of a £50m schools rebuilding programme.
The new £30m Harris Academy in Dundee will open next year.
Robertson’s Tayside workforce includes former Muirfield employees who quickly resumed their careers.
