Dunfermline retinal imaging firm Optos has confirmed the appointment of former Dundee University finance director Rob Kennedy as its chief financial officer.
He succeeds Louisa Burdett, whose decision to step down was announced earlier this year. Mr Kennedy, who joined the firm in August 2011, was made interim CFO in July.
Optos chairman Peter Fellner said he was delighted to appoint the Sheffield and Manchester graduate, who also has experience with Dutch listed firm Gamma Holdings, PwC and Balfour Beatty, following a “comprehensive search process”.
“Since joining the Company in 2011, Rob has been central to growing, and latterly leading, the finance function within Optos,” he said. “He has a deep understanding of all aspects of the business and is the right person for this position as we expand our footprint and presence.”
Last week, the firm celebrated good news in the shape of its first US major order for the ultra-widefield Daytona scanning device. It has agreed terms to supply 100 units for use in the 600-strong Visionworks store network.
