The September offering of pedigree Aberdeen-Angus females at Stirling saw a top price of 3,000gns paid for Messrs A and C Grant’s six-year-old cow Varis Proud Petra H716.
The daughter of Curzon Entertainer C088, out of the Mushroom Friar Fergus-sired cow Varis Proud Petra, was sold with her May-born bull calf at foot by Mosston Muir Major Boy L274 to Iain Colville.
He plans to use her to establish a new herd in Newtonards, Northern Ireland, alongside Eastfield Jen L272 from Ewan Brewis, which he purchased for 2,000gns.
Eastfield Jen, by Rawburn Rochester E424, is out of a Blelack Evor C732 daughter.
She was sold with her August-born bull calf at foot by Halbeath Kansas L429.
Achieving the second top hammer price was the Duns-based Cheeklaw herd belonging to David Lucas which got 2,500gns for its April 2011-born Cheeklaw Black Buxley L403.
This one is by Easton Greys Joseph Eric C100 and is out of a Tweedside Jewgal EricZ083 daughter.
She sold with her Cardona Proud Punch L752-sired heifer calf at foot to Hugh Montgomery, of Assloss.
Ewan Brewis then traded at 2,500gns selling Eastfield Fawnia L283, a three-year-old cow also by Rawburn Rochester E424.
She is out of Lockerely Kruz Z310 daughter and joined the load back to Northern Ireland with previous buyer Iain Colville.
Maiden heifers sold to a top of 1,800gns for Cherrybank Edwina N607 from George and Aileen McFadzean.
Born March 2013, this one is by Billinge Magic Jester Eric K300 and is out of a homebred Calfward Flyer D075 daughter. She was purchased by J Howatson, Strutherhead Farm.
Society assistant secretary Neil Caul said: “This was very much a buyer’s sale with trade being selective throughout for the stronger females with good quality calves at foot.”
