Scottish exhibitors returned from the inaugural UK Dairy Day, Telford, in fine form, having picked up a host of top awards.
Their successes included the championship in the novel team format in the Holstein judging which brought together cattle from a number of herds.
This championship winning team of four beat off competition from eight other teams from across the UK, highlighting the exceptional quality of the cows in the team.
Included in this team were Meiklefirth Plad Lutske from David Yates, Parkend Sanchez Tamara from Brian Weatherup, Parkend, Crossgates, Dilandy Debonair Tabitha Red from the Yates and Lawrie families and Netherlea Jayz May from Hugh Neilson.
Meiklefirth Plaid Lutske also stood reserve senior and reserve overall champion for David Yates.
Sired by Windy-Knoll-View Plaid, this second calver is out of a Jordan-sired dam and calved in January.
She was shown giving 42kg a day, was interbreed champion, at the Great Yorkshire Show and then reserve at Dumfries Show earlier this year.
Brian Weatherup had a successful day with Parkend Sanchez Tamara standing honourable mention in the senior and overall championship.
This VG89 classified second calver was fresh in May and is giving 58kg a day. Earlier this summer she was champion at the Royal Highland. As a heifer she was reserve junior champion at the Royal Highland Show, Superheifer at Agriscot and All Britain Senior two year old.
He earlier won the intermediate Holstein champion with Parkend Director Starlet who went on to be Red and White champion.
By Scientific Director she is out of Lesmay Jordan Starlet Red. This one was six weeks fresh and giving 36kg a day, having been junior Red and White champion at UK Dairy Expo this spring.
Other notable results included Logan Sid Edie from Brian Yates which was fourth in a strong class of senior two year olds.
Logan Alexander Belle from the same home stood third in the senior three year olds.
Neatherlea Jayz May from Hugh Neilson was the third-prize four-year-old cow.
Messrs Yates & Lawrie’s Dilandy Debonair Tabitha took second spot in the five-year-old class.
