The Rural land-based charity RSABI has found its first ambassador in Scotland with Glasgow Warriors rugby star Alex Dunbar.
The 24-year-old sportsman, who is from a farming family near Lockerbie, has pledged to support the rural community through his partnership with RSABI a charity dedicated to providing help for people who have worked on the land but who, due to age, illness, injury or misfortune, now experience hardship.
“I am delighted to welcome Alex as RSABI’s first official Ambassador,” said RSABI chief executive Nina Clancy.
“He knows and understands farming and is aware that many people who have depended on the land to earn their living are now, through no fault of their own, suffering hardship and are in need of our help.
“Alex is willing to use his profile to encourage others to support us, and for that we are very grateful.”
Throughout this year Alex will visit an RSABI beneficiary, support the charity at a number of events, and donate rugby memorabilia to the charity to help to raise funds.
He will also work to encourage others to join the RSABI Supporters Scheme, which allows people to contribute an annual donation to the charity, enabling ongoing work with beneficiaries.
Alex’s first contribution to the cause will provide one lucky competition winner with two tickets to the Scotland v Ireland RBS 6 Nations Match, as well as the opportunity to have lunch with himself in the run up to the match.
To be in with a chance of winning this great prize, all you have to do it sign up as an RSABI Supporter before the closing date of March 13.
Support donations start from £25 for individuals.
