A group of Perthshire young farmers spent Sunday morning bagging up three tonnes of potatoes for distribution to foodbanks across Scotland.
Using the facilities at Gregor and Val Smith’s Pitmurthly Farm at Redgorton near Perth the members of the Perthshire Association of Young Farmers Clubs packed the potatoes into standard 25kg bags for pre-Christmas consignment to foodbanks at Maryhill, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh.
The potatoes will be displayed loose allowing customers to collect whatever quantity is required.
The farmers who have donated the potatoes are from the Perth area.
Perthshire Association chairman David Barclay said: “There were over 20 of us here today so we didn’t take long to do the job.”
