A game produced as part of Abertay University’s Dare to be Digital competition is being made available worldwide.
Sculpty was designed to be played on the iPad and is the first game in the contest’s history to reach Apple’s App Store.
Players touch the screen to change the shape of lead character Sculpty and lead him out of a dangerous jungle. It was created by five Abertay students, who banded together under the title Team Tickle.
Team leader Druhin Mukherjee said, “Sculpty is something close to my heart and seeing our game available worldwide on the Apple App Store is very special.”
Game artist Fraser Littlejohn said, “It is amazing to think that this time last year Sculpty was a couple of drawings in a sketchbook, if that.
“I never thought at this stage that I would get to create a fully functioning game and see it being played by thousands of people.
“Dare to be Digital definitely has given me opportunities that I never thought I would have had during my university career.”
Sculpty, along with two other contest games Mush and Twang!, has been nominated for a BAFTA and the winner will be announced in London on Wednesday.
