A Perthshire artist has been honoured by his peers who have selected one of his works to hang in a major London exhibition.
Allan Perera-Liyanage, from Auchterarder, has won the accolade of having a picture chosen by The Guild of Aviation Artists for their 40th annual summer exhibition of Aviation Paintings of the Year.
The artist, who went as far as learning to fly to deepen his understanding of aircraft and improve the accuracy of his depictions of them, is delighted at his success.
Downwind Of Ratmalana, South Of Columbo, depicts an Air Ceylon DC3 circa 1956.
Mr Perera-Liyanage had to take his painting to London to seek approval.
Fortunately, the selection panel liked what they saw and now the 57-year-old’s work will hang in the Mall Galleries in the Mall from July 19 to 25.
“It involved a lot of hard work and research,” said Mr Perera-Liyanage of his painting.
“My usual style is more impressionistic but this is technically, mechanically and historically correct.”
The artist, who is the new president of the Perthshire Art Association, will be heading back to London to see his work on display.
