Staff at the Doghouse are celebrating after booking agent Dougie Black won a top prize at the Scottish New Music Awards in Glasgow.
Dougie scooped the booking agent of the year award at the event, recording the most votes in his category and the second most votes in the overall awards.
He said: ”It was a total surprise. I went through with Sarah (Hill, Doghouse owner) and a few people from the Doghouse.
”It was a great laugh I don’t even know who nominated me.”
Dougie admitted he almost missed his moment of glory as he arrived at the ceremony just in time to step on stage to collect his award.
”We were so late getting there we didn’t even have time to go to the hotel first. We just got there and walked into the room and the category had just been announced,” he said.
”Then they called out my name and I didn’t even break my stride (I) just walked straight on to the stage and collected it.
”I had written down a few things just in case but I couldn’t find it so I just fumbled my way through the speech, thanked a few people and then jumped back off the stage.
”I even got into trouble for that because I was supposed to go off the side way.”
The Doghouse was also nominated for best venue but there was no double celebration as that award went elsewhere.
”That was unfortunate,” Mr Black said. ”I was hoping we would get it for Sarah’s sake because she has put so much into the Doghouse, but you can’t win everything. Maybe next year.”
