Dundee Jazz Festival welcomes Martin Taylor to ‘music city’
ByNews reporter
Jazz guitar legend Martin Taylor has praised the recently-refurbished Gardyne Theatre, describing it as a ”wonderful place to play.”
Shortly before delighting a capacity audience at the Dundee Jazz Festival, he said he has always loved coming to Dundee since he first played with Stefan Grapelli at the Whitehall Theatre during the 1980s.
”I’ve always thought of Dundee as Scotland’s music city because there are so many great musicians from this city. The rebirth of the festival is impressive, the crowds are coming out and this venue is a wonderful place to play.”
Martin wowed the 400-strong crowd on the second night of the festival. He was supported by American blues finger-picking guitar star Woody Mann.
Dundee Jazz Festival continues until November 26. See www.jazzdundee.co.uk for more.
