Dundee band Model Aeroplanes land deal with Island Records

Young Dundee band Model Aeroplanes are celebrating after their dream of being signed to a major record label came true.

Island Records, the home of legends like Bob Marley and Amy Winehouse, have snapped up the lads ahead of a posse of major labels in London.

Their success comes less than two years on from the release of their first single and Model Aeroplanes Rory Fleming Stewart, Ben Buist, Grant Irvine and Kieran Smith are delighted to have signed.

Rory said: “From the first meeting with the head of A&R, when they flew to Glasgow to see a show in King Tut’s, we just knew they were the label for us.”
