Simple Minds are to play a ”greatest hits” gig at the Caird Hall in Dundee next year.
Nearly 30 years after their last performance at the venue, the band will perform songs from their forthcoming album, ”Celebrate The Greatest Hits”, at the 2,200-capacity hall on Tuesday April 2.
The show is one of only two Scottish gigs on the 28-date tour. The other is at the Music Hall in Aberdeen the previous night.
It will also be the first ”homecoming” gig for bass player Ged Grimes, founder member of Dundee band Danny Wilson and who later played with Deacon Blue.
Ged, who has just returned from London, where he was working with Simple Minds, said: ”I’m really looking forward to a hometown gig. Dundee audiences are always up for a great night so I’m sure it will be very special.
”Dundee is firmly back on the map as far as headline gigs are concerned and the support for recent shows in the city has been phenomenal.”
The new album sees the band follow up on their acclaimed 5X5 tour earlier this year. It also follows several successful festival appearances, including at T in the Park.
