The remarkable dance and choreography talents of a young Carnoustie girl have earned her special recognition from the teacher who runs the Stage Stars classes at the town’s Dibble Tree Theatre.
Kim Brymer had been so impressed by the ability shown by Abbey Adams (14) that she has presented her with a special trophy.
Kim said, “Abbey and her friend Rhianne Summers, who is one of the other girls who comes to Stage Stars, did a musical piece for their school show in September last year and told me they wanted to perform it for the other young people who come to the class.
“It was their interpretation of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal and it went down so well that Abbey asked me if she could work on choreographing some other Michael Jackson songs as well.
“I was delighted to let her take her interest further on her own and the result was a whole Michael Jackson section in our last show in June that everyone who saw it was really impressed with.
“For someone so young she has a real talent and the ability to go further and I am just pleased to be in a position to help and encourage her to make the most of what she has.
“We have our summer school running during the first week of August and Abbey is already working on a dance routine for that and, in addition to her own work, she gives up her own free time on Saturday mornings to help teach the three to seven-year-olds who come to Stage Stars.
“It’s really satisfying to see people like Abbey spend their spare time in such a positive and creative way and I just thought she deserved special recognition for her dedication.”
Stage Stars runs classes at the Dibble Tree Theatre every Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm, encouraging youngsters aged three to 16 to learn dance and choreography.
The Stage Stars summer school will run from August 2 to 6 and anyone interested in attending or signing up for the regular classes can contact Kim on 07709 179198, 01241 852234 or by email at kim-brymer@hotmail.co.uk
