A Perthshire entrepreneur has seen a Brexit boost from his luxury holiday lettings business.
Robin Menzies, who owns and runs the Mains of Taymouth Country Estate and Golf Course at Kenmore, said demand for holiday lets had remained strong despite the political and economic uncertainty.
Meanwhile, the Highland Perthshire firm’s first move into a residential development had also proved a success, with more than £2 million of lodge sales.
“Brexit has not really eaten into our lettings market,” said Mr Menzies.
“If anything it may have boosted business, it certainly remains very vibrant.
“We have had a good year across our various accommodation options and the year on year growth of our self-catering properties continues.”
Mr Menzies first developed the 160 acre estate’s traditional farm steadings into five star letting properties.
With his wife Irena, he then added a buy to holiday let homes and luxury lodges on the banks of the River Tay.
The estate’s facilities include a nine hole golf course, an equestrian centre, on-site restaurant, shop, and deli.
The firm has targeted the retirement market and buy to holiday let investors with its latest £6.8m Balloch Park lodge development.
Mr Menzies added: “Phase one of Balloch Park has been a success, with buyers coming from far and wide to secure a lodge which they have then been able to put their own stamp on.
“There’s been a healthy mixture of people looking for a more permanent residence, second homes and investment properties allowing us to holiday let the lodge for the owners.”
Phase one of the development had 16 lodges. The next phase, with 22 lodges, will launch next year.
