Perth-based tarmac surfacing company King Contractors has been acquired by a rival firm.
Crieff Road-based King Contractors, which has 30 staff, has been bought over by Don Tarmacadam for an undisclosed six figure sum.
No jobs have been lost in the move that doubles Aberdeenshire-headquarted Don Tarmacadam’s workforce as it seeks to grow throughout Scotland.
Don Tarmacadam managing director Paul Stafford said: “The acquisition of King Contractors is a huge opportunity for the company, and I am excited to see where it takes us.”
“With the acquisition of King Contractors, we can consolidate our position in both the North-East and further south, as the lead surfacing company of choice.”
King Contractors, which was established in 1979, provides road surfacing and plant hire services for commercial businesses. It will continue to trade under its own name.
The firm is looking to expand both their employee base and their services they can offer as they consolidate their position in the market.
Steven Allan, who has more than 30 years of experience in the sector, has been appointed to run the Perth operation as commercial director.
Mr Allan said: “The acquisition represents more than just an increase in the company’s reach.
“We are effectively doubling our expertise and knowledge, enabling us to provide a higher service to both the commercial and private markets.”
King Contractors specialises in all aspects of road surfacing and road markings in commercial and domestic settings.
Regular client work includes projects with the local authority housing developments, civil engineering, building works, trunk roads and utilities contracting.
