A growing Mearns housebuilder is preparing to embark on its largest development.
Gourdon-based Fotheringham Homes is hoping to build 70 properties on land at Johnshaven.
The family firm, established in 2002, is currently undertaking a £6 million project at Marykirk in Montrose.
Director Michael Fotheringham said the success of the 26-unit development in Angus had given them confidence for the Johnshaven project, which he sees as a significant step in the company’s growth.
He said: “The size of the Marykirk development fits in with our previous projects and has had an amazing response so far.
“We will be shortly undertaking a 70-unit development at Johnshaven and, out of the first 24 properties, 14 have already been reserved.”
Mr Fotheringham said the firm had a strong local focus with a commitment to high-quality finishes and high-specification equipment that sets them apart from larger developers.
The firm currently has a workforce of 32, including sub-contractors, with most staff coming from within a 25-mile radius of the company’s Gourdon headquarters.
“As well as using local staff, we also have long-standing relationships with local suppliers, which in our minds re-emphasises that using local suppliers and staff is something to be proud of, but also a commercially sound decision,” Mr Fotheringham added.
The company is led by Allan Fotheringham and his two sons Allan and Michael.
It has completed a range of developments at locations including Montrose, Inverbervie, Blairgowrie and Portlethen.
