A capacity audience from across the business spectrum gathered at Dundee’s Discovery Point to hear key figures outline the transformation of the city and its key assets for potential investors.
The vision and ambitions for the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc, business confidence and trends in the city and the Scottish and Dundee property markets were outlined by expert speakers.
Dr Mark Robertson, managing partner at property agents and chartered surveyors, Ryden, told the audience Dundee’s outlook was “very positive” and pointed to an encouraging office market across Scotland and the city, including the Waterfront development.
He said: “Dundee is also seeing growing investment, although the retail sector is facing challenges across Scotland and the city is no exception.
“That said, the vacancy rates in Dundee are relatively low and the city is above the line in terms of investment.
“The V&A and high profile events such as those hosted by Slessor Gardens are also supporting city centre activity.”
Alison Henderson, chief executive of Angus and Dundee Chamber of Commerce highlighted business optimism in the city, with STV developing a digital hub, the high interest that NCR received at a graduate recruitment day .and successes such as SP Automation.
Speaking after the event she said: “I’m delighted with the very positive response we have had to the event.
“It has attracted a significant amount of interest and we could have filled the room by half again.”
John Reid, chief executive of Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc spoke about the number of successes in terms of investment, collaboration and recruitment at the facility.
Dundee City Council leader John Alexander welcomed the success of the event and said the city would not let up on the hard work and dedication that was transforming Dundee.
