A Dundee family business has introduced a remote survey service to support customers during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Fire Surround Centres usually survey prospective clients’ homes in person but, with the ban on face-to-face contact, decided to explore alternative ways to serve their client base.
Working in conjunction with Alex Mitchell of Dundee creative agency zen, brothers Gary and Graeme Turnbull have launched the new service, so clients can prepare for a new fireplace or stove despite the lockdown.
Customers request an appointment slot, receive a secure link via their computer or phone and chat to the company online, giving them a virtual tour of their home, allowing the firm to proceed with orders and subsequent installation.
Gary Turnbull said: “With a huge percentage of the community spending more time in their homes, this is a great time to plan home improvement projects.
“We generally visit our clients to ensure that their home is suitable for the installation they want and to check out the technical implications and help them get the best design and look for their home.
“We didn’t want to let anyone down during this period, so we decided to think out of the box for a solution.
“The system also provides our future clients with an alternative survey process further down the line and improves our efficiencies as a business.”
