A Fife inventor is set to launch an anti-coronavirus wipe that can be dissolved as he plans to increase sales in America.
Brian McCormack, owner of McCormack Innovation, has developed dissolving materials for the medical and personal care markets, including the world’s first dissolving wet wipe.
Mr McCormack said he would shortly launch a new wipe that will reduce the risks of contamination in the battle against Covid-19.
The business has appointed New York-based Charlie Baynes-Reid as special advisor as it looks to penetrate the American marketplace.
Mr McCormack said: “After extensive trials we managed to overcome the issues of using highly complex chemicals with sensitive material that enables the structure to hold and do its job of killing the virus then dissolve in water.
“The main areas of use for this wipe would be in any intensive care unit where Covid-19 is known to be present.
“At the moment wipes are bagged and taken out of the unit to be disposed of. This presents a high risk of cross-infection. Our wipes would never leave the unit. They would be flushed away.”
