A Perthshire-based honey producer has agreed a US-export deal after agreeing a deal with a Texas supermarket chain.
Heather Hills Farm will supply its signature heather honey and raspberry jam to Austin-based Central Market, which operates from 10 locations.
Mark Noonan, managing director for Heather Hills Farm, said: “Scotland has strong ties with Texas and the listing enhances our awareness in the US.
“It allows us to share and celebrate our culinary heritage, particularly when travel, food tourism and hospitality are severely restricted now. Consumers are becoming more health and environmentally conscious and want to know where their food comes from and how it is sourced.
“They have a passion for good food and willing to do anything they can to make an ethical, sustainable difference.
“We constantly seek opportunities in both new and existing markets and growing our exports is a top priority.
“It is imperative that we never compromise on quality, stay true to our roots and nature, use traditional artisan methods and 100% natural, locally sourced ingredients that guarantee a superior quality product for our customers.”
Located in Bridge of Cally, near Blairgorwie, family-run Heather Hills was established in 1945.
Showcasing Scotland, Scotland’s largest biennial international food and drink trade event held at Gleneagles Hotel last year, provided the opportunity for the farm to first connect with the gourmet retailer.
The event, which was delivered in partnership by Scotland Food & Drink and Scottish Development International, connected Scottish food and drink suppliers with influential international buyers to help to build new trade relationships.
