During these challenging times, Dangle has seen a reduction in business to a reactive ‘emergency only’ operation as planned maintenance contracts were cancelled across the UK. As autumn approaches (a season when, historically, the weather window closes for external painting and rope access), Dangle has only a few weeks of trading before the end of the season where scheduled scopes of work present higher cost savings. However, like other firms, Dangle has diversified and is now offering training opportunities, introducing an industrial training certification scheme and SSPC ‘train the painter’ coating applicator course online which is led by trainer and company MD Simon Dunn, who is a SSPC instructor, a level-3 coating inspector, and author of Corrosion in a Modern World – Offshore Wind.
Dangle has also launched a fogging service to assist Dundee businesses in reopening their doors to staff and the wider public safely.
Perhaps another thing Dangle’s managing director Simon is proud of is the company’s ability to offer proactive solutions for clients and support to clients at any stage of their project. And this was demonstrated on a recent project, explained Simon: “Recently Dangle was tasked with a coating repair campaign on the offshore Wikinger Wind Farm in the German Baltic Sea. We mobilised a team of offshore GWO certified rope access painting technicians to perform a visual inspection survey identifying coating damages prior to then repairing the damages to NORSOK M501 standards.
“This was a project that had originally been started by another organisation but they were unable to complete successfully. The feedback Dangle received after successfully concluding the campaign for has been fantastic and we look forward to working on their other wind farms in the near future.”
