When Simon Dunn set up Dangle Rope Access seven years ago, he brought with him experience of managing large offshore rope access projects – something that his clients onshore are benefiting from when looking for access solutions to their unreachable areas.
The award-winning family-run business is proud to offer a flexible and versatile approach, something larger companies are not able to offer because of their size.
At Dangle, the team of rope access and working-at-height professionals are trained in a wide variety of trades and work to an extremely high standard, where safety is paramount.
Dangle offers industrial abseiling as a means of access to otherwise costly and difficult-to-reach locations. With clients in the offshore oil and gas industry, as well as the renewable wind industry, Dangle Rope Access promises clients across these sectors, and others, an expert service with a “bespoke, personal touch whilst delivering the highest standards and tailor-made solutions”.
Dangle, like most other businesses, has faced challenges during lockdown and as a rope access company it is heavily reliant on the health and wellbeing of its team. So, Dangle has adapted its already robust management systems and onsite risk assessments to ensure all technicians wear a face mask covering in line with government guidelines. It has also introduced a specially-adapted, plastic face shield which is built into their hard hat.
During these challenging times, Dangle has seen a reduction in business to a reactive ‘emergency only’ operation as planned maintenance contracts were cancelled across the UK. As autumn approaches (a season when, historically, the weather window closes for external painting and rope access), Dangle has only a few weeks of trading before the end of the season where scheduled scopes of work present higher cost savings. However, like other firms, Dangle has diversified and is now offering training opportunities, introducing an industrial training certification scheme and SSPC ‘train the painter’ coating applicator course online which is led by trainer and company MD Simon Dunn, who is a SSPC instructor, a level-3 coating inspector, and author of Corrosion in a Modern World – Offshore Wind.
Dangle has also launched a fogging service to assist Dundee businesses in reopening their doors to staff and the wider public safely.
Perhaps another thing Dangle’s managing director Simon is proud of is the company’s ability to offer proactive solutions for clients and support to clients at any stage of their project. And this was demonstrated on a recent project, explained Simon: “Recently Dangle was tasked with a coating repair campaign on the offshore Wikinger Wind Farm in the German Baltic Sea. We mobilised a team of offshore GWO certified rope access painting technicians to perform a visual inspection survey identifying coating damages prior to then repairing the damages to NORSOK M501 standards.
“This was a project that had originally been started by another organisation but they were unable to complete successfully. The feedback Dangle received after successfully concluding the campaign for has been fantastic and we look forward to working on their other wind farms in the near future.”
Dangle is offering clients a free no obligation quotation for onshore assets, so if there’s a land-based project anywhere in the UK, you’d like its working at height or corrosion experts involved in, email: dangle@onropes.co.uk.
For anyone wanting to renew their current ‘train the painter’ certification or looking to gain an internationally recognised industrial painting qualification, Dangle is offering up to 30% off for a limited time.
