Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce (DACC) has launched a track and trace app for business owners to check customers in and collect data required by the Scottish Government.
The test and protect web app #ProtectDundeeandAngus supports Scottish Government’s Test and Protect Programme.
Visitors scan a QR code with a smartphone on entry and input their contact information to be held securely for use if required by NHS Scotland.
This means that after the first sign-in, they can check in easily and securely each time they visit a cafe, restaurant, hotel or visitor attraction.
The initiative is the latest measure rolled out by the Chamber’s team who have been supporting their 800 members since the start of the Covid-19 crisis.
Alison Henderson, DACC chief executive, said: “The #ProtectDundeeandAngus app gives businesses the chance to quickly and securely capture visitor data needed with a minimum of fuss.
“It will help give visitors and customers the confidence to go back into local businesses knowing the necessary contact tracing information is being collected in line with GDPR requirements.
“It also illustrates how businesses are working collaboratively and are serious about doing all they can to protect their customers and visitors.
“We’re delighted to be able to support businesses in this way, helping them manage this process and alleviating some of the pressures their teams may feel in gathering the necessary data.
“Since the start of the crisis we’ve been here to help Dundee and Angus businesses in any way we can and will continue to do that.
“Anything that we can do to make it easier for customers to buy local and support the Dundee and Angus economy is a win in our book.”
From August 14, all Scottish businesses serving food or drink to customers who remain within the premise must gather contact details to support NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect service.
#ProtectDundeeandAngus provides a safe and secure way of storing this information and can be used for purpose of contact tracing should the need arise.
The service is free to Chamber members but available to all businesses across Dundee and Angus, is primarily aimed at the region’s tourism and hospitality sector but can be used by any business that may need to comply with Test & Protect.
Registered businesses will have access to a range of downloadable documents which include QR codes and numerical codes for display within their premises.
Within the account dashboard the businesses can also see how many times the service has been used.
Visitors to the premise can check in via a QR code or numerical code on their mobile phone at protect.dundeeandangus.scot or manually by the business. Information can also be stored for their next visit.
