The main board of Forth Ports has visited Dundee to review progress on a £10 million investment in the city’s docks.
In February, the group revealed plans to upgrade a 200 metre-long section of the quayside adjacent to Prince Charles Wharf.
The redevelopment – which is being entirely privately funded by the group – will see the quay significantly strengthened in order to allow it to lift heavy cargoes and offshore infrastructure on and off land.
The port hopes the move will allow Dundee to become a major player in the offshore renewables and decommissioning markets and encourage more shipping traffic into the Tay.
Chairman Lord Smith of Kelvin and chief executive Charles Hammond joined board members and local port manager David Webster for a tour.
Site survey works are currently underway and the entire construction process is expected to take up to 18 months to complete.
